At the beginning of a new year, let us take on the practice of praying this prayer each day as we seek to follow God more fully. This is a prayer from our 250 year old tradition started by John and Charles Wesley.
I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will,
Rank me with whom you will;
Put me to doing, put me to suffering;
Let me be employed for you or laid aside for you,
Exalted for you, or brought low for you;
Let me be full, let me be empty;
Let me have all things, let me have nothing;
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to your pleasure and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am yours.
So be it.
And the Covenant now made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven.
저는 더 이상 제 것이 아니라, 주님의 것입니다. 주님이 원하시는 일에 저를 붙들어 매시고, 주님이 원하시는 사람들에게 저를 붙이소서.저를 행하게 하시고, 저에게 고난을 주소서. 저를 주님께서 사용하소서. 주님의 처분에 맡깁니다. 주님을 위해서라면 저를 높이시고, 혹은 저를 낮추소서. 저를 채우기도 하시고, 비우기도 하소서. 저에게 모든 것을 주기도 하시며, 또한 제게서 모든 것을 가져가소서. 제 모든 것을 주님의 기쁨을 위해 쓰시도록 기꺼이 그리고 마음 다해 드립니다. 영광스럽고 복되신 하나님, 성부, 성자, 성령이시여, 저는 주님의 것이요, 주님은 저의 것입니다. 그렇게 되게 하소서. 제가 이 땅에서 맺은 이 언약을 하늘에서도 확증하여 주소서. 아멘.
